Feverfew - RL for Ken and Aya

[He didn't expect to get the gift from Eris this soon, but he's certainly not going to complain. Chloe opens it, grabs the shimmering globe from inside, sets it in his pocket, and grabs his crutches. Time to tell Ken and Aya that he got what he needed for them to make special deliveries. There's no need to mention the more serious reason he got it.

Chloe doesn't pass a mirror on his way to find them, so he has no idea that his hair's changed to be the intense red he works hard to hide.]

[Sorry. Ken's still staring too much to do much else. After a moment, he just blinks and glances over at Aya.]

She hinted at one, but wasn't specific.

[And since Ken is staring, Chloe leans over to use the TV as a weak mirror. Once he notices his hair, he frowns.]

I think the price is rather clear.

[Ken turns the tv off and props his feet up on the low table in front of him.]

... it looks nice. Different, but nice.

[The compliment from Ken makes him blink. It's been a long time since anyone said anything nice about his natural color; Chloe's not sure what he thinks about that remark.]

You're already fond of one redhead, so your opinion isn't exactly unbiased, Ken.

But now I'm forced to wonder how long it will remain like this. Remind me never to make bargains with goddesses in the future.

[And this is coming from someone who finds himself unattractive.]

What's the method for Ken and I to travel?

[For a moment, he looks a little miffed at his compliment being so easily brushed aside. Add on his still obvious dislike of the whole 'going on worldhop deliveries' thing.... ]

Then I'll be sure to save my compliments for the one redhead I'm fond of.

[He pulls the device out of his pocket and hands it to Aya while shooting Ken a rare apologetic look. Chloe's not used to thinking of his hair as anything good, so he couldn't help his reaction.]

Or you could compliment things that aren't such sensitive points for the person in question.

Or you two could drop the subject altogether and we could move onto other matters.

There's only one order right now that needs one of you to travel and it should be safe, considering it's to someone that's part of a group destined to save the world and he didn't seem injured or in a hurry.

The other is something I've agreed to take care of. [Because it's to Japan and Chloe doesn't know how safe it is for Ken and Aya these days.]

The globe Aya's holding will take you where you need by focusing on the person you intend to visit, or so the directions said. And I've visited another world before, so I know firsthand that whatever lets us understand each other still works.

I take it the one you intend to handle is Makoto.

[Yes, he was watching.]

You should know that her version of Japan is not our own. Neither is the one for the boy named Touma.

[He just wants him to be aware of that.]

[Hearing that a trip to Japan might be a possibility perks Ken up a bit more. As much as he likes where he's at, there's still a part of him that misses Japan.]

Makoto's a sweet girl. I met her the other day. I'd be willing to help with her stuff.

I know they're not identical and I don't expet them to be. Yui's world wasn't even close to ours, despite her seeming to be Japanese.

[Somehow, he knew mentioning Japan would make this suddenly more interesting for Ken.]

She's very nice. I wouldn't mind some help gathering what she wants -- she's apparently interested in flowers native to Ireland for a friend.

I think we can provide that. Wouldn't this mean we have two orders though? One for Makoto and one for Touma?

[He knows the delivery aspect is something he more than likely won't be able to get out of, so for now, he listens in.]

"I first said one for you two, and one for me. But who does what might be changing now that Ken's actually interested now."

In the end, it didn't matter who went where as long as the work ended up done.

"Everything's gathered and arranged already. I didn't have much else to do today."

You realize that your argument about being unable to do this is going out the window right quickly, right?

[Lips pursing in a frown that's becoming a regular sight on Ken's face, he shoves himself up off the couch.]

It's not that I'm not interested. I just hate being volunteered for crap without my prior consent. I hate deliveries. Everyone knows that, but delivering to people from the community? Hell no. Especially not now.

[He can guess what the 'not now' is referring to.]

Schuldig will never be able to see anything I post about the business or deliveries to the community. I'm better with security than that, Ken, and I thought you trusted me more than that. I also wouldn't accept delivery to a world that seems dangerous at the moment.

[And if they're in other worlds, they can't be harassed.]

I have reasons for this if you want to stop being angry and enjoy the chance to see other worlds while delivering flowers.

[Aya lifts a brow at that and glances over at Ken. He personally thinks Chloe's arguments are sound.]

[As loathe as he is to admit it, Ken knows Chloe's right. Of course, that doesn't mean he's very graceful in accepting it.]

... yeah. Alright.

I'll be able to do more as my leg heals, too.

[But he thinks there's one more thing to mention.]

And one final thing. In case anything ever goes wrong and you don't feel like you can return here or stay here safely, a young man named Issei Ryudo lives at a temple that also works as a sanctuary. He seems trustworthy to me.

[Chloe can guess that they'd rather not involve Side B with their past enemy if possible, so the option is there sooner rather than later.]

[He blinks at that part.]

We have a temple we can go to for sanctuary?

[Ken does pretty much the same thing before he stretches and gives Chloe another quick look.]

... look, I'm just going to be playing delivery boy with all this, so I'm going to go and see if I can stand to do a decent workout or something. Aya can fill me in later.
